Kanal – Centre Pompidou

I was not convinced when I first visited Kanal-Centre Pompidou, but last weekend I gave it a second chance… and it seduced me.

Is it because I had other expectations, because I saw it with my husband’s eyes, because I had more time to imbue the space, because we were in a urbanite mood?

The first time I was puzzled by its emptiness and odd pieces of modern art.

This one, rambling in the former workshops, showrooms of the iconic Citroën garage, imagining what it had been and will become, I kind of understood the staging of this impressive industrial building.

I guess sometimes art is a state of mind… ?

Next to its permanent and temporary exhibitions, performances are regularly organized in the museum.
Don’t hesitate to visit it with children, they will enjoy discovering all the corners of the garage, the view on the canal… and won’t have to keep (too) quiet.
The museum is also very accessible with a stroller (perfect place to remind yourself of civilization during maternity leave!).

The streetfood market at the ground floor (free entry) is a cool place to hang out and in good weather its sun-lit terrace on the border of the canal is the perfect place to relax and sip a Vedett.

What I also had missed the first time : the Home Movie Factory by Michel Gondry.
Groups from 5 people can freely participate to a 3 hours workshop in order to create their own movie from scratch in a mini cinema studio. Looked like a fun activity, also for the young teenagers we saw acting on the movie set !
